I was really drawn emotionally to the scene with Sam at Dean's grave (oh, the sad feels!) so I wanted to do something involving that.

So, my first two attempts at going a watercolor painting ended in absolute failure because most of my paints are crap. I have managed to snag a few tubes of better quality paints but it is not enough to work with. So, I went back to good old pen and paper. I'm shit at drawing lines on the tablet so I used my original pen lines and colored underneath it in my copy of Manga Studio 5. Then added some textures for good measure.

I love this! The outline version looks like a graphic design and then the full colour version hits you RIGHT IN THE FEELS. Poor Sam all huddled up, looking so small. I love the bold lines and the patterns of the grass, the trees and the cross; they create a dynamic background to the stillness of Sam. The light and textures are perfect finishing touches. <3 What a great scene.

I love <3 the art! So totally the right scene! Sam's dying inside and he looks so dead, like he's huddled up to the cross is the only thing that's keeping him from disappearing altogether.

Beautiful colours and the darkness around him are just trying to swallow him up. Poor Sammy!!!
