Who wants a date?
Jun. 2nd, 2016 10:46 pmHello y'all!
The masterlist of our Quicky_Bang for April/May is nearly complete; one artist was granted extra time due to moving house, and as soon as they are ready to post, the round will officially be closed!
In the mean time I would like to introduce another challenge that will give artists an opportunity to try something new.
For the original Quicky you could browse through submitted summaries and pick a short fic to illustrate; I imagine you chose one based on your favorite characters or -as I usually do- your own arting abilities. How about a different approach? One that will stretch your artmuscles and possibly take you to a part of fandom you haven't explored before. Interested? Here's how it works...
THE MATCHMAKER CHALLENGE
In this challenge you will be assigned a short fic (<5000 words) to make artwork for*. This can be a story-banner, a scene illustration, an artist impression, anything your muse comes up with, in any artmedium.
In the spirit of
quicky_bang this is a speed challenge; we want to avoid procrastination;) That's also why you contact the author: so you'll have a cheerleader to get the art done (and to exchange ideas or discuss ratings if you want:)
There will be a sign up post on July 1st and artists can join in all month for one of the following mystery dates:
Option A: a SPEED date
1. You sign up with your name and email;
2. You get three summaries within two days of signing up;
3. You pick one of those fics;
4. You let the author know you're gonna play;
5. You make art within three weeks!
Option B: a BLIND date
1. You sign up with your name and email plus your preferences and squicks
(Examples: Sam & Dean, no bloodplay ~OR~ Misha/Jensen, no porn ~OR~ no preference, but no kidfic please
- keep it short, the goal is to challenge yourself at least a little;)
3. You get a fitting surprise summary within two days of signing up;
4. You let the author know you're gonna play;
5. You make art within two weeks!
Yes, I know the speed date lasts longer than the blind date, but just like with a real life speed date you will see more prospects;) Because these fics may be from a different corner of fandom than you usually play in, you get extra time for references and research.
6. Post in the
quicky_bang community with a banner or teaser image and a link to your own journal.
*For this challenge I will use submitted short stories that weren't claimed in the regular
quicky_bang (the submission post is locked, so no peeking;)
AUTHORS: if, for any reason, you feel uncomfortable with the rules of this challenge, please send me a message before July 1st to opt out (PM or mail: beelikej@gmail.com)
Questions? Suggestions? Comments? Let me know!

Date: 2016-06-02 09:36 pm (UTC)Sign ups are open from July 1st until July 31st, your posting date depends on when you sign up and what option you sign up for.
So if you sign up on July 5th for a blind date, I'd get you an assignment on July 7 at the latest and then you have two weeks to art.
If someone signs up on the last day of July for a speed date and I take two days to sort things out, the last art could be posted on August 23rd at the latest.
